Day"approved.
August
7th - Annually
Chapter 758 has been instrumental in encouraging the Florida Senate
and House of Representatives
to unanimously pass Bills which officially recognized August 7th as "Purple
Heart Day"
in the
State of Florida. Governor Rick Scott has signed these Bills into Law.

Tallahassee Becomes our Nation's 1st Capital Purple Heart City
Tallahassee, Florida- September 12, 2012
A group of Purple Heart Recipients, Veterans and Gold Star Mothers attended the
presentation where the
City of
Tallahassee Mayor John Marks and fellow commissioners
took the time to announce Tallahassee as the first Capital Purple Heart City in
the Nation.
Mayor Marks made a pledge to contact every mayor of a capital city in the U.S.
to ask them
to make their cities Purple Heart cities. Veterans who spoke made a plea to the
crowd at the
commission meeting to help them find homeless veterans to help them benefit from
veteran services.
